Maria Valadez Ingersoll is a postdoctoral researcher at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, specializing in molecular ecology and marine organism immunology. She holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Boston University, where she studied cnidarian-algal symbiosis under Drs. Sarah Davies and Tom Gilmore.
- Education: B.A. (Swarthmore College), Ph.D. (Boston University)
- Current Role: Postdoctoral Scholar at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Her research explores molecular responses to climate change in corals and sea anemones, symbiosis-immunity tradeoffs, and marine microbiology. She has extensive experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and scientific diving.
Maria's publications focus on cnidarian-algal symbiosis, SARS-CoV-2 protein dynamics, nitrogen isotope proxies, and stress responses in marine organisms. Her work intersects with understanding coral resilience and copepod diapause mechanisms.
