Maria T. Brown is an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University's School of Social Work, focusing on social gerontology and health equity. Her research examines later-life experiences of socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, racial and ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ communities.

Dr. Brown has received significant funding, including a 2021-2022 Prevent Cancer Foundation grant for her co-investigator role in the Genesis Health Project. Her scholarship includes book chapters on LGBT health equity and military service experiences.
