Dr. Maria Stockenreiter is a Senior Lecturer in Aquatic Ecology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), affiliated with the Faculty of Biology and Department of Aquatic Ecology. She holds a PhD in Ecology from LMU (2012), focusing on biodiversity effects in phytoplankton. Her research emphasizes plankton stoichiometry, food web dynamics, and biodiversity impacts in limnic and marine ecosystems. She co-leads the Seeon Limnological Station (SLS), part of the EU-funded AQUACOSM network of aquatic mesocosm facilities.
- Education:
- PhD in Ecology, LMU Munich (2012)
- Postdoctoral research at Kellogg Biological Station, Michigan State University (2013)
Research Interests: Combines laboratory and field experiments to study plankton community dynamics, trait diversity, and ecological responses to environmental stressors. Active projects include DFG SPP DynaTrait (trait diversity dynamics) and CLIMSHIFT-DFG (regime shifts under climate change). Utilizes mobile pelagic mesocosms and advanced water chemistry/plankton analysis techniques.
Teaching: Leads courses in Ecology at both bachelor and master levels (EvoÖko I, Aquatic Ecology, Experimental Plankton Ecology) and supervises research internships. Engaged in teacher training programs like 'Biologie macht Schule.'
Labs/Teams: Director of the Seeon Limnological Station, coordinating large-scale mesocosm experiments across European ecosystems. Collaborates in international networks like AQUACOSM and AQUACOSMplus (EU H2020).
