Maria Spagnuolo is a Research Fellow at the University of Catania, Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A), within the Mechanics and Mechanization section. She is currently involved in the PRIN 2022 research project ROVERCROP - Sustainable Implementation of Unmanned Ground Vehicles for Onfield Agricultural Activities, under the scientific direction of Prof. Sabina Iole Giuseppina Failla.

- Master's Degree in Agricultural Science and Technology (LM-69) - University of Catania (2023), Thesis: Detection of malsecco symptoms in lemon through multispectral image analysis (Grade: 110/110 with honors)
- Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science and Technology (L-25) - University of Catania (2021), Thesis: Innovative sustainable building solutions for olive oil mills (Grade: 110/110 cum laude)

Research Focus: Spagnuolo's work operates at the intersection of agricultural mechanics and biosystems engineering, emphasizing sustainable agricultural mechanization through unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Her research applies multispectral imaging for plant disease detection and explores eco-friendly engineering solutions for agricultural infrastructure.
