Maria S. Sepulveda serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources and Department of Civil Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering.
Her academic credentials include:
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Chile
- Master's degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida
- Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Sepulveda's research program centers on ecotoxicology, with a focus on evaluating sublethal effects of environmental contaminants on fish and wildlife reproductive physiology. She develops molecular biomarkers for contaminant exposure and effects, investigates bioaccumulation dynamics and bioavailability factors in biota, and examines disease impacts—particularly parasitic infections—on wildlife populations. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates physiological, molecular, and ecological methodologies to assess environmental stressors.
Prior to joining Purdue University in 2005, she held academic positions at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as Assistant Instructor (2000) followed by Assistant Scientist (2002).
