Maria Psillaki is a Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Piraeus, Department of Economics. She holds a PhD from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, where she also earned her Bachelor and Master degrees with highest honors. Her academic career includes visiting research positions at institutions such as the University of London (CEPR/ESRC-funded), the University of Chicago (Booth School of Business), and Rutgers University. She has also held visiting faculty roles at the University of Cyprus and other European/American institutions. From 2001-2008, she served as Associate Professor at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis.
- Research Focus: Corporate finance, banking, and operational research.
- Awards: PhD with highest honors and French Ministry of Education scholarship.
Her work has been published in prestigious journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, European Journal of Operational Research, and Small Business Economics. She has reviewed for top-tier journals and contributed to European research programs.
Prior roles include Vice President of the Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association (2009–2012).
