Maria Nilsson is an Associate Professor in Nursing Science at Linnaeus University's Department of Health and Caring Sciences, part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Her work focuses on older adults and informal carers, with a particular emphasis on digital technology's role in healthcare and long-term care systems. She leads the WELL CARE project aimed at improving resilience among care workers and families through partnership-based approaches.
Dr. Nilsson holds a PhD analyzing welfare technology discourses from a Swedish perspective and is affiliated with the National Competence Centre for Carers (NKA) and the UK-based Centre for Care collaboration. Her research bridges policy analysis, technology implementation challenges, and ethical considerations in AI-driven care solutions.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate thesis supervision in nursing programs and course coordination for philosophy of science courses. She actively contributes to international research networks like the Sustainable Care Early Career Researcher Network.
