Maria Marjorette Pena

Maria Marjorette Pena is an Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina's McCausland College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biological Sciences. She also serves as Director of the Mouse Core at the Center for Colon Cancer Research.

• Research focus: interactions between tumor cells and their microenvironment, chemotherapy efficacy, liver metastasis in colon cancer
• Methodologies: genomic techniques, orthotopic mouse models, transplantation of fluorescently labeled cells
• Collaboration: Frank Berger’s lab on thymidylate synthase (TS) structure-function relationships
