Maria Lukatskaya is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrochemical Energy Systems at ETH Zurich's Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering and heads the Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory. Her research focuses on advanced materials and electrolyte design for high-performance energy storage systems.
- Education: Ph.D. from Drexel University (USA), Postdoctoral work at Stanford University and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
Her work explores electrochemistry of 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes) and conductive metal-organic frameworks for pseudocapacitors, alongside aqueous battery development using water-in-salt electrolytes and cation solvation engineering. Research aims to enhance energy/power density, safety, and cost efficiency of storage systems.
