Maria Kharchiladze Bigvava serves as a Lecturer at ESCI-UPF, part of Pompeu Fabra University, where she has taught Russian since 1997 across multiple institutions including EIM (Universitat de Barcelona) and EOI Drassanes. Her primary academic role involves delivering the required Russian II course within the Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Marketing program.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Romance Languages from Moscow State University, specializing in teaching Spanish, Catalan, and European literature alongside translation. This foundation propelled her dual career in academia and professional linguistics, with expertise spanning commercial and legal domains. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes intermediate-to-advanced Russian vocabulary, grammar, and contextual lexicon development for formal/informal communication scenarios.
Professionally, she has maintained active translation practice since 1992, working with Roca Junyent legal practice (including leadership of their Moscow office), European Commission TACIS projects, TV3, and Russian enterprises. Cultural engagement remains integral to her profile, notably delivering the 1997 opening address at Vilafranca del Penedès’ Festa Major. While her work intersects business education through language instruction, no formal research output or specialized laboratories are documented in available sources.
