Maria Karametou

Maria Karametou is an Associate Professor at the School of Art, George Mason University. A renowned mixed media artist with international exhibition records, she has shown work at prestigious venues including The Ludwig Museum for International Art (Germany), The Vorres Museum of Contemporary Art (Greece), The National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington D.C.), and The Corcoran Gallery. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland (cum laude) and an MFA from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore.

Her research explores mixed media art, international collaborations, and curation. Notable projects include 'Penelopeia' (sponsored by the Presidency of the European Union), 'Vegoritis Project' in Greece, and 'EcoReflections' presented in Turkey. She maintains active cross-cultural artistic partnerships and has been represented by prominent galleries including Gallery K and C. Grimaldis Gallery.
