Maria Kamenetska is an Associate Professor at Boston University, holding joint appointments in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics. She is also affiliated with the Material Science & Engineering and Nanotechnology Innovation Center. Her research focuses on developing novel single-molecule techniques to study intermolecular interfaces in biological and engineered systems, with projects spanning electron transport in 1D metal chains, DNA-protein interactions, and advanced spectroscopy methods.
Education: She earned a B.S. in Physics from MIT (2005), an M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Columbia University (2012), and completed postdoctoral training at Yale University in Biophysics and Chemistry. She joined BU in 2017.
Research Interests: Her lab explores nano-materials, single-molecule biophysics, and nanotechnology, combining techniques like Scanning Tunneling Microscopy, Optical Tweezers, and Raman Spectroscopy. Key areas include quantum interference in molecular junctions, nucleosome dynamics, and label-free nanoscale investigation methods.
Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2004, with 2024 highlights including work on quantum interference manipulation and topological insulator circuits. Her research bridges condensed matter physics and biophysics, emphasizing experimental innovation.
