Maria Josep Jarque

Maria Josep Jarque is an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, affiliated with the Faculty of Psychology and the Departament de Cognició, Desenvolupament i Psicologia de l'Educació. Her research focuses on Evolutionary Psychology and Education, specifically exploring oral communication, sign language studies, and educational linguistics. She leads the GRADIA research group and collaborates with the Grup d'Innovació Teaching in Development Psychology.

Education: She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (University of Barcelona, 2019), a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of New Mexico (2001), and a Bachelor's in Catalan Philology from the University of Barcelona (1993).

Research Interests: Prof. Jarque investigates grammar construction, pragmatics, and discourse in signed languages, particularly Catalan Sign Language (LSC). She also examines communication disorders in education and the development of digital tools to enhance teacher training and student linguistic competence.
