Maria Ines Caño Melero

Maria Ines Caño Melero is a Lecturer (Professora Lectora) at the University of Girona’s Faculty of Education and Psychology, Department of Psychology, and an Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She is a member of the consolidated research group "Language and Cognition" (GRHCS095 & 2017 SGR 1111) funded by the Catalan government.

Research Interests:
Her work focuses on neuropsychology, psycholinguistics, and bilingual language processing. She investigates lexical access in bilingual speakers, semantic and grammatical deficits in aphasia, numerical cognition, and social-cognitive functions in schizophrenia and Down syndrome. These themes are explored through behavioural, neuropsychological and clinical methodologies.

She is an active researcher in the Language and Cognition Research Group at the University of Girona, studying language development, socio-cognitive processes, and basic psychological mechanisms related to psychopathology.
