Maria Isabel Borrajo Garcia

Maria Isabel Borrajo Garcia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics, Mathematical Analysis and Optimization at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. She is also research staff at the Galician Mathematical Research and Technology Center (CITMAga). Her primary affiliation is with the MODESTYA research group focused on optimization, decision models, and statistical applications.

She earned her PhD in Mathematics from USC in 2018 with a thesis on Nonparametric inference on point processes with covariates, supervised by Professors Wenceslao González-Manteiga (USC) and María Dolores Martínez Miranda (University of Granada). Prior to her current role, she served as an Interim Substitution Professor at the University of Oviedo (2017-2018) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Lancaster University (UK, 2018-2019).

Her research emphasizes Spatial Statistics and Nonparametric Inference, developing methodologies with applications in diverse fields. She actively engages in academic dissemination through conferences, workshops, and science fairs, and teaches courses such as Data Visualization and Analysis with R at USC.
