Maria Isabel Andrés Marques

Maria Isabel Andrés Marques is an Associate Professor at Lusófona University (Porto campus) within the School of Economic and Organizational Sciences. She holds a PhD in Tourism Sciences (Université de Perpignan, 2008), a Master's in Cultural and Tourism Engineering (Université de Perpignan, 2005), and a Sociology degree (University of Porto, 1992). She directs undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Tourism Management and Hospitality Innovation.

Her research focuses on Tourism Sustainability, Cultural Heritage, Gastronomy's role in tourism, Diaspora Tourism dynamics, Destination Branding, and Sustainable Development practices. She leads research at the Intrepid Lab, now integrated into CETRAD (Center for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development). Her work bridges tourism studies with socio-cultural and economic dimensions.

Her recent publication (2024) examines online learning impacts on business/economics students during the pandemic, highlighting pedagogical adaptations in higher education.
