Maria I. Iturbide

Maria I. Iturbide is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Psychology at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. Her teaching focuses on developmental theory, research methods, and fostering lifelong learning skills, currently instructing courses like Human Development and Introduction to Psychological Research Methods. She has mentored undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly research during her postdoctoral work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

Her research examines factors influencing adolescent well-being, particularly among Latino populations, with a focus on ethnic identity development, acculturation stress, and links to risk behaviors. She employs mixed-methods approaches, combining quantitative and qualitative analyses.
