Maria Gustin Bergström is an Adjunct Assistant Lecturer at Linköping University's Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), specializing in Product Realisation (PROD). Her academic role focuses on teaching and supervising master-level students in product development, creativity, and design methodologies. She holds a Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology (2005).
Her professional background includes over a decade in product development roles at Mölnlycke Health Care and SCA Hygiene Products, where she contributed to innovations in incontinence care and wound dressing technologies. She has secured nearly 15 patent applications and 10 design protections, earning SCA's Innovator of the Year (2008) and Most Prolific Innovator (2008) awards for her patent-driven contributions.
Research interests span medical device design, sustainable product development, and creativity in engineering education. Her publications primarily address advancements in wound care and hygiene product technologies, reflecting her industry-academia collaboration expertise.
As a supervisor, she guides bachelor and master thesis projects in product design and development. Her academic contributions are complemented by leadership in PROD, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to real-world product challenges.
