Maria Elena Aldea Agudo

Dr. Maria Elena Aldea Agudo is a Senior Teaching Professor of Spanish and Director of the Spanish Language Center at Franklin and Marshall College. She holds a Ph.D. in Contemporary Spanish Literature from the University of Kentucky.

Her research has evolved through three distinct phases: initial work focused on Falangist propaganda's idealized representations of war and heroism in 1940s Spain; post-2008 research examined cinematic and literary depictions of Spain's economic crisis and identity negotiations; current work pioneers trauma-informed pedagogy approaches in language education.
