Maria E. Lauredo is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Benjamin L. Crump College of Law, St. Thomas University. She teaches Appellate Advocacy and has extensive experience in criminal appellate practice and healthcare compliance. Previously, she served as an appellate Assistant Public Defender for 11 years, arguing cases before the Third District Court of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court, resulting in over 165 published opinions. From 2001–2005, she worked as Assistant General Counsel at the University of Miami, focusing on HIPAA compliance for physician groups and hospitals. Since 2010, she has been Chief Assistant Public Defender for the Appellate Division of the Law Offices of Public Defender Carlos J. Martinez.
