Maria Brown, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Mount St. Joseph University, where she also teaches graduate Medical Pharmacology in the Physician Assistant Studies Program. Her career spans Northern Kentucky, where she earned her undergraduate degree, and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she completed her doctoral studies in Pharmacology & Cell Biophysics.

Her research focuses on improving pedagogical methods to enhance student retention in introductory Biology courses, building on her earlier work involving the transcription factor NF-kB in cardiomyopathy models. Outside academia, she is actively involved in her local school board and maintains a diverse lifestyle with gardening, running, and homesteading activities.
