Maria Arnelid is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Linköping University's Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences (HMV). Her work bridges Gender Studies, Social Anthropology, and Science and Technology Studies through qualitative and ethnographic methods.
Her research explores the organization of welfare services, focusing on care practices, policy changes, and the sociotechnical dynamics in implementing technologies like care robots. She investigates how trust, empathy, and responsibility shape human-robot relationships in healthcare settings.
Current projects include Collaboration in Care Interventions for People with Dementia, funded by Forte, and ethical implications of AI in caregiving. She collaborates with the Center for Medical Humanities and Bioethics, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to care technologies.
Her recent publications analyze gendered perspectives in robotics, welfare technology's role in elderly care, and science communication challenges. Supervisors include Katherine Harrison (Senior Lecturer, Linköping) and Ericka Johnson (Professor). Key colleagues are Dominika Lisy and Isabel García Velázquez.
