Maria Adamson

Dr. Maria Adamson is a Senior Lecturer (Reader) in Work and Organisation Studies at Queen Mary University of London's School of Business and Management, Department of People and Organisations. She holds a PhD from the University of York and an MA from Central European University. Her roles include:

• Leverhulme Trust Research Fellow (2024-2026)
• Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED)
• Associate Editor of the British Journal of Management

Her research focuses on gender and diversity in professional work, including role models' influence, flexible working practices, business celebrities, and inclusion strategies. She has led ESRC-funded projects and published in top journals like Human Relations, Sociology, and Gender, Work & Organization. Current research explores celebrity executives as role models and elite female executives' impact on workplace gender dynamics.

Awards include the Human Relations Reviewer of the Year Award 2023. She supervises doctoral students in gendered careers, work-life balance, and technology-driven diversity challenges. She has taught courses such as BUS305 (Managing Diversity) and contributed to public engagement through articles like 'Are Celebrity Women Executives Good Role Models for Women?'
