Mari Välimäki is a Visiting Researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Department of History, Philosophy and Literary Studies) at Tampere University. She leads the project 'Professor's Household - The Royal Academy of Turku as a Family Network in the 17th Century' and works on the 'Biography as a method for early modern history' project. She holds a PhD from the University of Turku (2021) in Finnish History, focusing on premarital relationships and agency in 17th-century Swedish university towns.
