Mari Komnæs is a doctoral student in English Literature at the Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL), Lund University, under the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. She is actively engaged in research and teaching, with a focus on Romantic-era British women writers, particularly concerning class, gender, and education.
Her research interests include Romanticism, women's writing, working-class authors, autodidacticism, Scottish literature (especially James Hogg), witchcraft, folklore, and national identity. She explores how 18th-century women used pamphlets and novels to challenge gender inequality and advocate for educational rights. Her academic background includes an MA from the University of York, where she studied James Hogg and witchcraft in his works.
Her recent publications and projects center on both literary scholarship and pedagogical innovation in doctoral education. She has co-authored works on mentorship models for PhD students, reflecting her dual commitment to research and academic development. Her publications span peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and abstracts.
