Margrite Kalverboer is an Adjunct Professor in Child Orthopedagogy and Child/Foreign Rights at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. She serves as the National Kinderombudsman since 2016, focusing on children's rights in legal and immigration contexts. Her academic career includes roles as a researcher and lecturer, combining pedagogical and legal expertise.
Education: Orthopedagogie (RUG, 1987), Law (RUG, 2007). She holds a PhD from RUG (1996) on child welfare reporting. Her research explores child rights in immigration law, juvenile justice, and residential care. She directs the Expertise Center for Children and Immigration Law, addressing legal participation and support for migrant children.
