She has been a professor at this institution since April 2012 and is currently on research sabbatical during the summer semester of 2025.
Her academic background includes a habilitation from the University of Konstanz (2008) and a PhD from Freie Universität Berlin (1997). Prior to her current position, she held various academic appointments at several German universities including substitute and guest professorships at Paderborn, Münster, Freiburg, and FU Berlin.
Professor Egidi's research focuses on medieval German literature, with particular expertise in courtly love poetry (Minnesang), medieval narrative structures, and manuscript traditions. Her recent work has examined power dynamics in medieval texts, Frauenlob's theory of love, and cultural-historical perspectives on Hartmann von Aue's works.
Her publications reveal a consistent focus on medieval German literary traditions, particularly examining courtly literature, narrative techniques, and the representation of love and power in medieval contexts. She has contributed significantly to understanding the manuscript tradition and cultural reception of medieval German texts.
As an educator, she has taught courses on Old German Language and Literature, courtly novels, and medieval love narratives, though her current courses for the summer semester of 2025 are all listed as cancelled due to her research sabbatical.
