Margot Mifflin

Margot Mifflin is Professor of English at Lehman College (CUNY), with joint appointment at CUNY's Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Her research examines cultural representations of women through historical and contemporary lenses, including tattoo culture, beauty pageants, and captivity narratives.

She has served as exhibition advisor for institutions including MoMA and the New York Historical Society. Her books analyze how cultural phenomena like Miss America and women's tattoo traditions reflect evolving gender norms and identity politics.

Mifflin teaches courses on Arts Criticism, Gender in Popular Culture, and Beauty Pageants & National Identity, bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to cultural analysis.
