Margit Grieb

Margit Grieb is an Associate Professor of German in the Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida (Tampa), where she has been since 2003. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida.

Her research focuses on German cinema, new media technologies, film restoration, avant-garde film, and German cultural studies. She has authored a monograph on German film and new media (2012) and co-edited multiple anthologies, including works on language, culture transitions, and contemporary approaches to world languages. Current projects include a monograph on Wim Wenders.

Dr. Grieb teaches courses on German film, literature, language, and culture, with recent offerings such as Ecocinema, Germanic Mythology in Popular Culture, and Fantastic Films of Early German Cinema. She mentors the USF German Culture Club and directs semester/summer study abroad programs in Germany (Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Osnabrück). She is affiliated with the Department of Humanities and Cultural Studies and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies.
