Dr. Margherita Colucci serves as a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology in Jena, Germany, affiliated with both the Human Palaeosystems Research Group and Pan African Evolution Research Group.
Her research centers on reconstructing past human-environment interactions through interdisciplinary analysis of geological, archaeological, and climatic datasets. Specializing in African prehistory, she investigates how hominin populations adapted to Quaternary landscape transformations using sedimentology, palaeoclimatology, and geoarchaeological field methods.
Dr. Colucci conducts extensive fieldwork across African territories, collaborating with international teams to model evolutionary responses to environmental change. Her work integrates stratigraphic analysis with chronological frameworks to establish spatiotemporal patterns in hominin dispersal and resource utilization.
