Graduate Institute of International and Development Studiesمعرفی
Margaux Pinaud has served as Academic Coordinator of the Conflict & Fragility Management Programme (CFM)—a collaboration between The Institute's executive education and the Centre on Conflict, Development & Peacebuilding (CCDP)—since 2021, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at CCDP since February 2025. She initially joined CCDP in January 2020 as a Visiting Fellow.
Her educational background includes a Doctorate from the Humanitarianism and Conflict Response Institute at the University of Manchester, where her thesis examined civil society's role in ceasefire monitoring mechanisms during civil wars using mixed-methods statistical and comparative case study approaches.
Margaux's research centers on Peace and Conflict Studies with specialized focus on Conflict Management, Fragility, Civil Society in War, Ceasefire Monitoring, and UN Peace Missions. Her work bridges academic rigor and practical application, having been invited to present findings to peace practitioners internationally. Current research explores belligerent consent dynamics in UN peace missions through Prof. Hellmüller's theoretical framework.
She has led significant research initiatives including the SNSF/Agora project "Communicating about Peace: UN peace missions and their mandates," which developed mobile/web applications and pop-up exhibitions to translate academic insights for policymakers. Her current postdoctoral work continues this practice-oriented approach within CCDP's research ecosystem.
