Margarita Inés Gili Planas

Dr. Margarita Inés Gili Planas is a Professor of Social Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). She serves as Coordinator of the research group 'Highly Prevalent Mental Disorders in Primary Care' (TRAMAP), a consolidated group of the Balearic Islands Research Institute (IDISBA) accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute. The group also belongs to the University Institute for Research in Health Sciences (IUNICS) and is integrated into the Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS).

With a PhD in Psychology, Dr. Gili Planas has held significant administrative positions including Dean (2016-2019) and Vice-Dean (2019-2024) of the Faculty of Medicine, Secretary of the Department of Psychology (2013-2017), and Director of IUNICS (2004-2006). Her research focuses on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of affective and anxiety disorders in Primary Care, as well as comorbidity with non-psychopathological diseases.

She has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and is currently leading the research project 'Evaluation of the Implementation of an Online Psychological Therapy Program for the Treatment of Depression in Primary Care: A Study with a Hybrid Design.' Her international research experience includes a residency at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. She is a member of editorial boards for journals indexed in JCR and Latindex.

Dr. Gili Planas teaches Medical Psychology, Social Psychology, and gender-focused health courses across Medicine, Psychology, and the Master's in Gender Equality Policies programs. She shares intellectual property rights for the 'Smiling is Fun' online psychotherapy program designed for depression treatment in Primary Care.
