Margaret Vignola

Margaret Vignola is a Lecturer in the Voice and Opera Studies program at the Conservatory of Music, Purchase College, SUNY, where she also earned her MusB. She has served as Assistant Director of the multi-award-winning Purchase Opera and Assistant to Professor Jacque Trussel for over two decades.

Her research and artistic interests span Opera, Voice Performance, Music Theater, Libretto Writing, Artist Development, and the Music Industry. Drawing from her extensive professional background in publicity, marketing, and artist development at major record labels including Capitol, MCA, Geffen, and Universal Music Group, she brings industry expertise into her academic and operatic work.

Margaret co-wrote the libretto for Raphael Lucas’ opera Confession, which was recognized with the National Opera Association’s Best Chamber Production award and recorded by Albany Records. This achievement highlights her creative contributions to contemporary opera.

Margaret has played a pivotal role in shaping the Purchase Opera program since its early development. While formal graduate advisees are not listed, her leadership and mentorship within the opera program have influenced numerous student performers and productions over 21 years. She continues to contribute to opera education and production at Purchase College.
