Margaret Serwach serves as a university professor in the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz. She teaches contract law to third-year evening law students and conducts seminars on civil law, medical civil liability, proceedings before Provincial Commissions for Adjudication of Medical Events, contracting health services, and civil liability in medical law for fourth and fifth-year law students.
Professor Serwach specializes in civil law with particular expertise in civil liability, medical liability (responsibility for damage caused to patients during treatment), and economic and health insurance, especially third party liability insurance. Her research bridges legal theory with practical healthcare applications, focusing on the complex relationship between medical practice and civil law obligations. She has developed significant expertise in the legal frameworks governing medical events and patient compensation systems.
Professor Serwach holds prominent positions in national healthcare governance structures, serving as Chairwoman of the Legal, Legislation and International Regulations Committee and member of the Ethics Committee of the National Transplantation Council. She previously chaired the Łódź Commission for Adjudication of Medical Events (2018-2021) and currently serves as Vice-Chairwoman of the 2nd term Provincial Commission for Adjudication of Medical Events.
