Margaret Noodin is a Professor in the Department of Literature and Cultural Theory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She holds a PhD and MFA from the University of Minnesota, specializing in Indigenous Language Revitalization, Anishinaabemowin Poetry, and Global Indigenous Intellectual Traditions. Her work bridges linguistics, literature, and cultural studies with a focus on Anishinaabe languages and environmental stewardship.
Dr. Noodin’s research emphasizes language pedagogy, curriculum development, and the intersection of Indigenous knowledge systems with contemporary environmental challenges. She serves as an Affiliate Scholar at the Electa Quinney Institute for American Indian Education and the Center for Water Policy, reflecting her commitment to community-engaged scholarship. As co-editor of The Papers of the Algonquian Conference and editor of Ojibwe.net, she actively contributes to linguistic documentation and digital preservation of Indigenous languages.
Her publications explore themes such as Anishinaabe sustainability concepts, comparative Indigenous literatures, and the revitalization of endangered languages. Recent work addresses ecological harmony frameworks and the role of archives in preserving cultural memory. Noodin collaborates with Indigenous communities on projects like the Raptor Collaboration Centered on Language and Culture, integrating ecological and linguistic revitalization efforts.
