Margaret E Ackerman serves as Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine and holds a joint appointment as Professor of Engineering at Thayer School of Engineering. Her office is located in Cummings Hall (119B) at 14 Engineering Drive, Hanover, NH.
Dr. Ackerman's research program focuses on applying molecular engineering tools and quantitative analysis to develop immunotherapeutics and vaccines. Her laboratory specializes in parsing humoral immune responses to vaccination and infection, developing quantitative understanding of antibody functions, and creating platforms for combinatorial display and in vitro evolution of candidate vaccine immunogens. This interdisciplinary work bridges fundamental immunology with protein engineering approaches to address critical challenges in vaccine design and therapeutic antibody development.
Her laboratory maintains an active research program with numerous graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working on projects related to HIV and cancer therapeutics. Current team members include PhD candidates in the Molecular and Cellular Biology program and co-advised students working with colleagues in Microbiology, Immunology, and Computer Science departments.
Dr. Ackerman maintains her research laboratory website (ackermanlab.org) which details ongoing projects, team members, and publications. She can be reached at Margaret.E.Ackerman@Dartmouth.edu or by phone at 603-646-9922.
