Margaret Dangoor is affiliated with the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre at the London School of Economics. With a background in nursing and healthcare management, she holds an MA in Health Law and has extensive experience in medico-legal affairs, risk management, and patient safety. She serves as a Life Fellow and former vice-president of the Royal Society of Medicine. Her work bridges clinical practice, policy, and research, with a focus on dementia care, later life, and public involvement in healthcare.
Key roles include Research Involvement Manager in the Personal Social Services Department (2014–present) and co-investigator on major dementia-focused studies like MODEM and DETERMIND. She actively engages with community organizations, currently chairing a local health and social care co-production group and facilitating a dementia carers’ support group. Margaret also serves as a trustee for Carers UK, Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston, and previously the Centre for Ageing Better.
Her advocacy spans media contributions for Alzheimer’s Society and Independent Age, reflecting her dual perspective as both a professional and a caregiver (having cared for her husband and mother with Alzheimer’s). Her research emphasizes service access inequities, cost impacts of dementia interventions, and caregiver support systems.
