Margaret Connolly is Professor of Palaeography and Codicology at the University of St Andrews, with joint appointments in English and History. She directs the St Andrews Institute in Medieval Studies and specializes in medieval manuscript studies and book history.
Her research focuses on Middle English literature, manuscript contexts, textual editing, and the reception of medieval texts in post-medieval periods. Current projects examine reading practices during the English Reformation and the development of personal libraries.
Connolly serves as General Editor for the Middle English Texts series and chairs the advisory board for the Index of Middle English Prose. Her editorial work supports critical scholarship on medieval textual traditions.
She supervises doctoral students researching various aspects of medieval literature and book history, maintaining an active research group focused on manuscript culture.
