Jane Toswell is a Professor in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University's Faculty of Arts & Humanities. She specializes in early medieval texts, particularly the biblical book of Psalms in Anglo-Saxon England, and contributes to interdisciplinary fields like medievalism and speculative fiction.

Her research focuses on psalter manuscripts, including bilingual Anglo-Saxon prose and poetry texts. She is currently co-editing the Paris Psalter, the longest surviving Old English poem, with M.S. Griffith of New College, Oxford. She also publishes on the codicology of early medieval manuscripts and analyzes modern cultural responses to the Middle Ages in British and Canadian contexts.
Toswell maintains affiliations beyond her primary department, serving as an affiliate member of the Department of Women's Studies and Feminist Research. Her academic work intersects with medieval manuscript studies, textual reception history, and contemporary genre fiction scholarship.
