Margaret Cezair-Thompson is a Senior Lecturer in the English & Creative Writing and Peace & Justice Studies departments at Wellesley College. She is a literary scholar, novelist, and screenwriter whose work bridges creative practice and critical inquiry into postcolonial, gender, and diasporic themes.

Her research and teaching focus on fiction and screenwriting alongside critical analyses of colonial and postcolonial narratives, African and Caribbean literature, modern British literature, and the Atlantic Slave Trade's legacy in literary works. She explores racial stereotypes, gender issues, and the representation of Africa and the Caribbean in 19th-century English literature.
Notable recognition includes her debut novel The True History of Paradise (1999) being shortlisted for the Dublin International I.M.P.A.C. award, and her second novel The Pirate’s Daughter (2007) becoming a London Times Best Seller and winning the Essence Literary Award for Fiction (2008). Her screenplay Photo Finish was acquired by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions.
