Margaret Burnett is a Professor and Associate Head, Academic in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She practices at the Health Sciences Centre Women's Hospital on the Bannatyne Campus in Winnipeg. Dr. Burnett holds leadership roles in medical education, emphasizing experiential learning and learner assessment.

Her research focuses on clinical research program quality improvement, simulation in medical education, deliberate practice in clinical decision-making, and competency-based assessment. She advocates for women’s reproductive rights, minimally invasive gynecology, and physician wellness initiatives.
Dr. Burnett has received multiple teaching awards and has delivered invited presentations across Canada. She mentors over 250 learners, including elective students, residents, and colleagues. Her work includes implementing high-fidelity simulation curricula and portfolio-based assessment systems.
