Margaret Brady is a tenured Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where she has been a full-time faculty member since 1978. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), an MSN in Pediatric Clinical Specialty from the University of Colorado, and a BSN from Marquette University. Dr. Brady is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC) and holds a California School Nurse Services Professional Credential. She has taught across baccalaureate, master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, emphasizing pediatric care and nursing education.
Her research focuses on pediatric obesity, nursing higher education, and the delineation of the pediatric nurse practitioner role. She co-edited the textbook Burn’s Pediatric Primary Care, a leading resource for pediatric and family nurse practitioners. Dr. Brady has held leadership roles in national organizations, including past presidencies of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses (NAPNAP), the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Associate Programs, and the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.
Her accolades include the Henry K. Silver Award from NAPNAP, the NAPNAP/PNCB Excellence Award, and recognition from the Los Angeles County Office of Education. She advocates for pediatric healthcare standards and nurse practitioner role development through her publications and professional service.
