Cynthia Chew

Cynthia Chew, DNP, CPNP-PC, IBCLC, CHSE, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Department of Health Promotion & Development. She coordinates Nurse Practitioner Programs and the Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program.

Clinical Emphasis: She practices as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner and lactation consultant at Pediatric Associates of Westmoreland, precepting nurse practitioner and midwifery students in the Newborn and Lactation Suite. Previously, she worked as a senior professional staff nurse at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in obstetrics and NICU units.

Research & Scholarly Work: Dr. Chew focuses on infant health promotion, particularly nutrition and oral health. She integrates telehealth curriculum into nurse practitioner education and develops simulation activities for pre-licensure students in pediatrics and obstetrics. Her work spans lactation support, infant care, and innovative teaching methods.

Service: She is actively involved in professional organizations: National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) National Nominations Committee member, Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (PCNP) regional board representative, and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Telehealth Committee member.
