Margaret Boden is a Research Professor of Cognitive Science at the Department of Informatics, University of Sussex. She has been elected to prestigious academic institutions including the British Academy, Academia Europaea, and the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI).

Her research spans cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and the philosophy of mind, with a focus on understanding purpose, intentions, and human creativity through computational models. Boden's work integrates biological psychology with AI, exploring the mechanistic basis of creativity and cognition.
She has received significant recognition, including the 2017 ACM - AAAI Allen Newell Award for contributions to the philosophy of cognitive science and AI, as well as an OBE in 2002 for services to cognitive science. Boden has authored influential books such as The Creative Mind: Myths and Mechanisms and Mind As Machine: A History of Cognitive Science, with her writings translated into 20 languages.
