معرفی
Marek Tchórzewski is a full Professor at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska (UMCS), where he leads the Department of Molecular Biology. As founder of the Intravital Cell Imaging Laboratory and co-founder of the Metabolomic Laboratory, he plays a pivotal role in Poland’s NanoFun multidisciplinary research infrastructure.
- PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Kyoto University
- Postdoctoral research at University of Southern Denmark and Lund University
His research focuses on ribosomal structure and function, particularly the role of P-stalk proteins in regulating translational GTPases during genetic decoding. He investigates how toxins like Shiga toxin and ricin disrupt translation via ribosome interactions, and explores ribosomal heterogeneity in cancer progression. Recent work includes cryo-EM analyses of toxin-ribosome complexes and discovery of ribosomal protein isoforms.
Key trends in his recent publications include structural biology, protein interaction networks, and translational fidelity mechanisms, with collaborations spanning biochemistry, pharmacology, and parasitology. He employs cutting-edge technologies like native-MS for protein interaction studies.
