Przemysław Paweł Grela

Dr. Przemysław Paweł Grela is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska. His research focuses on ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs), their molecular mechanisms, and their role in ribotoxic stress response and apoptosis. He leads the NCN OPUS grant project titled 'Deciphering the ribosome inactivating proteins modus operandi at the molecular and cellular levels,' aiming to redefine the biological effects of RIPs beyond translation inhibition.

• Research Interests: Structural and cellular characterization of RIPs, ribosome-stress signaling pathways, and biotechnological applications of toxin regulation systems.
• Techniques: Cryo-electron microscopy, protein-protein interaction analysis, and intein-based post-translational regulation of toxic proteins.
• Impact: Developing tools for time-controlled RIP synthesis to study metabolic fluctuations and enable safe RIP-based anti-cancer therapies.
