Marek Tamm is a Full Professor of Cultural History at Tallinn University's School of Humanities, where he has held academic positions since 2004. He also serves as Head of the TLU Centre of Excellence in Intercultural Studies and Head of the Estonian Graduate School of Culture Studies and Arts. His affiliations include membership in the Estonian Academy of Sciences and the Estonian Government's Research and Development Council.

- Bachelor's in History and Semiotics (1998, University of Tartu)
His research focuses on cultural history, cultural memory studies, semiotics of culture, medieval studies, and theory of history. He has led major projects like the ERA Chair 'Cultural Data Analytics' (2019–2023) and 'Digital Livonia' (2021–2025).
