Marek Opielak

Prof. Marek Opielak is a prominent academic affiliated with the Faculty of Transport and Information Technology at the Lublin University of Economics and Technology since 2022. He has held significant administrative roles, including Vice-Rector (2002–2008) and Rector (2008–2012) at the Lublin University of Technology. Previously, he served as an academic teacher at the University of Economics and Innovation in Lublin (2003–2008) and the Lublin School of Engineering from 1976.

His research focuses on the construction and operation of machinery and vehicles, with applications in agricultural engineering and food industry machinery. He has authored approximately 250 scientific publications, including 18 books, and holds 12 patents and utility models. His work bridges mechanical engineering and food processing technology, emphasizing practical innovations.

Prof. Opielak has received notable accolades such as the Golden Cross of Merit (2004) and the Medal of the Commission on National Education (2003). He was awarded honorary doctorates from Drohobych State Pedagogical University (2006) and Sumy State University (Ukraine) and holds titles of Honorary Professor at Vinnytsia National Technical University and Lublin University of Technology.

With extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, master's, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, he has supervised 4 PhD dissertations and approximately 250 theses. He has also reviewed 16 doctoral dissertations, 14 habilitation dissertations, and 17 professorship applications, demonstrating a deep commitment to academic mentorship and evaluation.
