معرفی
Marek Kowalski is a Professor of Physics at Humboldt University Berlin and a Leading Scientist at DESY, affiliated with the IceCube group since 2014. His research focuses on astroparticle physics, neutrino astronomy, and observational cosmology, with a significant emphasis on the expansion of the IceCube experiment at the South Pole and the development of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) in collaboration with Caltech, the Oscar Klein Centre, and the Weizmann Institute.
- PhD in Physics from DESY Zeuthen and Humboldt University Berlin (2004)
- Diploma in Physics from Humboldt University Berlin (1999)
Kowalski's research bridges neutrino astronomy with transient celestial phenomena, leveraging advanced instrumentation like the ZTF's 1.6-gigapixel camera for supernova cosmology and neutrino source studies. His work has been recognized with the 2009 Physics Prize from the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
- Member of the IceCube Collaboration and Executive Board
- Chair of the Supernova Factory Collaboration Board (2010–present)
- Director of the Physics Institute at the University of Bonn (2013–2014, 2010–2011)
- Speaker for the Center for Detector Physics at the University of Bonn (2012–2014)
- Astronomy Coordinator for the Helmholtz Alliance for Astroparticle Physics (since 2011)
At DESY, Kowalski contributes to detector physics and astroparticle research, maintaining leadership roles in major international collaborations.
