Marek A. Janicki is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Auxiliary Sciences of History, Source Studies and Methodology of History at the University of Warsaw's Institute of History. He was awarded his PhD in 2002 and habilitation in 2016. His roles include serving as secretary for scientific matters at the Institute (2005/2006), chairman of the Library Committee, and editorial board member of the Historical Review since 2016. His research focuses on medieval and early modern Polish-Lithuanian history, source science, and historical editing, particularly narrative, epistolary, and epigraphic sources.
Education: Master's degree from the University of Warsaw (1996), PhD (2002), and habilitation (2016). Research interests include socio-political and cultural changes in 14th–16th century Poland and Lithuania, with special attention to humanism, reformation, parliamentarism, and royal chancellery studies. He has contributed significantly to the critical edition of Jan Dantiscus's correspondence and the Cronica conflictus.
Recent work includes studies on the Grunwald battle narratives, the tomb of Alexander Vytautas, and the historiography of medieval Poland. His publications span historical methodology, epigraphy, and the cultural history of elites. He actively participates in academic networks, including collaborations with institutions like the University of Gdansk and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
